Week 13 - The FINAL Week of FALL CSA 2020!

HELLO DEAR CSA MEMBERS! We finally made it to the end! Some of us thought it would never come, but it has, and it was an awesome season (now time for vacation!!!)!

We are now finishing the best Fall and Summer seasons we have ever had (from the veggie's perspective) and we couldn't be more proud or thankful to G-d for all He has blessed us with 🙏. If you recall, we almost had to shut down completely in the beginning of the year and we were preparing for the absolutely worst. So, to come out of 2020 with only a few figuratively minor scratches, bumps and bruises is something to celebrate. Sure, we had some huge financial issues to overcome (and we still will be struggling with them for a while) and we missed many of our programs like market-share (coming back in 2021), but for us to be preparing for a stellar and thriving 2021 is something to celebrate! We are very grateful for where we are at this point considering the other alternatives we were facing and we would like to give thanks to not only our Creator, but to all of our team members, supporters and community members who lifted us up and stuck with us and supported us through this year - because it was a very uncertain and bumpy ride to get here!

The team (including the volunteers) is really what made everything so special this year. Their consistency and their dedication to the community as well as to our family (as I heal from cancer and do treatment) has really been nothing short of amazing and they all deserve a lot of credit and thanks - THANK YOU!.

Not only have we been able to survive this pandemic year, but going into 2021, we are very positive about our plans to thrive. Plans with the nursery, returning to Market-style CSA shares, getting a whole new website in 2021 as well as launching a new microgreen CSA and moving to a new subscription style payment system. To top it off we are looking fairly solid and well-planted for our Winter CSA, beginning the first week of February 👍.

In short, there are a lot of things for us to look forward to in 2021 and we couldn't be happier and as our business continues to mature, we will see more consistency across the board. Thank you to everyone who supported us in 2020 and to those continuing on, we owe you a special thank you and we look forward to seeing you again in February. Until then, remember that we are shut down for the entire month of January🤩!

NURSERY NEWS

The Nursery is coming along wonderfully! We have already started many of our seedlings for Spring 2021 and we are preparing plans to open a physical greenhouse location here on the farm - fully outfitted with soil, pots, tools, seedlings and more. Lorin and Tess have been working really hard and we are all very, very excited!

We are looking for a Nursery Volunteer (or two). If you have a passion for plants and want to get your hands dirty, Lorin would love to have you around! We are seeking a volunteer interested in helping out the Nursery crew for 5 hours a week. If you are interested, nursery volunteers will also get you a free Microgreen CSA ($35.00 value per week). Volunteers also get a free T-shirt and free seedlings for your home or garden!

As always, nothing is guaranteed.  These are the items that are "in season" and are anticipated to be ready this week (which may or may not be available at the CSA):

  • Small = 4-6 items per week

  • Medium = 7-9 items per week

  • Large  = 10-12 items per week

  4. Fennel - Stunning with amazing fronds that can be used right away or saved for later by drying. HLiving Herb - Parsley or Oregano. Ready to put on your kitchen counter and harvest as needed. 5. Living Herb - Parsley or Oregano. Ready to put on your kitchen counter and harvest as needed.

  6. Red Russian Kale - Yay! We haven't had this in a while and it is a staple. The cold weather has turned it dark purple and red and added a wonderful sweetness to it.

  7. Kale Tops! - People loved these last week - thanks for the feedback! More coming this week. Just remove those leaves and enjoy as always!

  8. Sunflower Shoots - The single most nutritious item we grow! Not only that, but they are also one of the top 3 items we provide for your CSA. Enjoy them raw for the best benefit.

  9. Radish microgreens - A nice spicy bite to top a salad or cooked dish, pasta, soup or stew - they can also be enjoyed raw. Huge nutrient profile with incredible cardiovascular benefits.

Is that it?  I think so! The last share of the year is a beauty - we hope you enjoy every last bite!

That's it for this week! We love you to pieces, are incredibly grateful for each and every one of you and we are blessed to the core to be YOUR farmers!! Yosef, Havah, Kids and Team The Camire Family
