Week 10 - The Tenth Week of FALL CSA 2020!
HELLO DEAR CSA MEMBERS! We made it past Thanksgiving - phew! - and boy are we thankful to be back to a regular schedule! So much has been going on lately, it will feel nice to have a breather for a few weeks, and then we have another schedule change for the last CSA of the year - then it's an entire month off! For now, let's just focus on having 4 more beautiful CSA shares!
Speaking of the next 4 shares, be prepared for a reduction in the size. As we mentioned in the beginning, the Fall CSA is the only one that starts out large and gets smaller (all the other seasons do the opposite). Now that we have made it to this point, the amount of food starts to really decline and the growing virtually stops. Yes, we continue to plant and seed, water and fertilize, but boy does it slow down to a virtual standstill. There's lot's to celebrate though, as your shares will still be beautiful and vibrant and they will still have plenty of variety and value. Truthfully, this is by far the best Fall season we have ever had and it looks like things will continue positively through the end of the year!

**Schedule Change for Week of Christmas**
In order to accommodate the majority of our members whom will be celebrating Christmas on December 25th, we will be making an adjustment to the schedule for that week as follows (please update your calendars!):
All pickup locations and door to door deliveries for the week of December 21st through December 25th will be moved to Thursday, December 24th. All locations and times are the same and have no further changes.
TO BE CLEAR: THE ONLY CHANGE FOR CHRISTMAS WILL BE A MOVE TO THURSDAY OF THAT WEEK (Dec. 24th) FOR ALL LOCATIONS. NO OTHER CHANGES WILL BE MADE. THERE WILL BE NO PICKUPS OR DELIVERIES ON FRIDAY (12/25).
ATTENTION AUTO-RENEWAL MEMBERS
If you selected auto-renewal you should have already received an e-mail with a reminder of your auto-withdrawal for your Winter CSA Membership. All auto-renewal charges will occur automatically on December 7th, 2020. The following will be the amount charged (all auto-renewals automatically received 5% off. The prices below reflect this discount):
SMALL: $189.05 after 5% discount
MEDIUM: $256.50 after 5% discount
LARGE: $318.25 after 5% discount

BAGS! We need your bags!!!
Thank you everyone for recycling your LARGE bags with us (thank you, but we do not need the small ones, only the large ones)! When we receive your bags we immediately quarantine them for 2 weeks before reusing them to ensure they are safe of any yuckies. Thank you for bringing them and any others you may have!
__________________________________ What to expect THIS week:
As always, nothing is guaranteed. These are the items that are "in season" and are anticipated to be ready this week (which may or may not be available at the CSA):
Small = 4-6 items per week
Medium = 7-9 items per week
Large = 10-12 items per week
Head Lettuce - We have lot's of beautiful red and green heads coming.
Carrots - Big, beautiful and tasty carrots. What else can we say? Oh, I know! Don't forget to eat those greens! Turn them into pesto or something - they are great and have 600% MORE vitamin C than the carrots themselves 😮!
Leeks - Sorry everyone, but these leeks are the absolute best leeks E-V-E-R! We don't cut off the greens either because those greens are amazing! Don't waste 'em!
Golden Beets - HUGE and delicious. Unlike the red beets, golden beets have a more mild and "smooth & buttery" flavor. Oh, and those greens! It's certainly two veggies in one!
Turnips - These hakurei turnips, as you know, are the absolute best and very quickly overtaking some of our other "favorites" to become to chief Ahavah veggie! If you don't like these...well, I don't know what to tell you 😜 ! ...oh, and I am sorry to say, but they are the last of the year😢!
Celeriac- It's back again this week and looking as beautiful as ever. Remember, this hasn't been the best crop we were hoping for, but for a first time growing it we didn't do so bad! :)
Spinach - WARNING: DO NOT EAT UNTIL HOME - it's so good it won't last! The sad part about this spinach is the serving size - it never seems like enough because it's so sweet and delicious!
Cilantro - What a way to bring summer to your winter dish! Fresh aromatic cilantro is such a delight in the middle of winter!
Barley Grass - HIGHLIGHTED Yay! It's that time of the season when everyone get's at least one serving of barley grass! It's similar to wheat grass, but better: Higher nutrition and less bitterness. Great for a smoothie or to juice, but honestly, I love to simply chew on it and spit it out when done. Delicious and a huge boost of energy and nutrition! Radish Microgreens - The spicy variety of microgreens that we will be offering this week and also one of the most beloved. It was one of the top five items we provided this year. All members should get some this week.
Is that it? It's a lot, but I think so! I may be missing something...who knows, you might be surprised with something else too!
