Hello Dear CSA Members! Here is your extras for the week and the bag packing list. We are also so happy to announce to you some of our final CSA food-value metrics for the 2020 season.
Over the course of 14 weeks, our team has harvested, washed, bunched or bagged and delivered over 49,000 units of food (more than 17,000lbs) - by hand, without tractors, chemicals or fertilizers!
Over the past 14 weeks, Ahavah Farm and Ahavah Community Initiative have donated over $14,000 in free food to local struggling families.
Over the past 14 weeks, together with Double Up Colorado, we have been able to donate an additional $5,600.00 of free food to SNAP (EBT) members!
Large shares received 14.2% more than the cost of their membership this year compared to our regular market prices and 22.6% more value when compared to a major national grocer*!!
Medium shares received 14.7% more than the cost of their membership this year compared to our regular market prices and 23.4% more value when compared to a major national grocer*!!
Small shares received 18.8% more than the cost of their membership this year compared to our regular market prices and 28.6% more value when compared to a major national grocer*!!
*During the season we did our best to track the cost of the food from one major national retailer. Sometimes the value wasn't available online and we had to compare with other national produce price lists, like the USDA Market Guide.
