Thank you for your patience last week as we scrambled to make sure you got your shares. When wintery conditions render the roads hazardous, we have to make huge adjustments to keep you and our team safe. Things change unexpectantly, and we try to get the word to you as fast as we can. When this happens, please watch for emails and updates on our Facebook page. We will post as soon as we have a plan. Our whole team worked our hardest to get the changes made and get your food to you. 😁

Take a look at the numbers for this season! Wow! We have had a fantastic fall. Our goal for each size share was surpassed. Our goal for the season is to always give our members more than what they paid for...

the goal for the Small sixed CSA is 5%, the goal for the medium is 10% and the goal for the large is a minimum of 10% more than what you paid.

This season, we CRUSHED it! This season we gave the small CSA sized members a total of 8.04% more than you paid for! The medium's received 16.89% more, and the larges got a total of 20.68%! WOW! We hope we can do the same or better for the coming seasons! The bar has been set high and we hope you all enjoyed your SHARES as much as we loved growing and harvesting them!!

This Week's Harvest

As always, nothing is guaranteed. These are the items that are "in season" and are anticipated to be ready this week (which may or may not be available at the CSA).

  • Small = 4-6 items per week ($25/wk)

  • Medium = 7-9 items per week ($35/wk)

  • Large = 10-12 items per week ($45/wk)

  1. Lettuce - Beautiful lettuce! We have gorgeous head lettuce and lettuce mixes! Great for everything from salads to sandwiches and lettuce wraps!

  2. Tatsoi- This is a very versatile green, equally suited to being served raw or lightly cooked. To make it easy, just use tatsoi anywhere you'd use spinach.

  3. Mustard greens- Add these leafy greens to your diet by mixing mustard greens into a chopped salad or cook it like most leafy greens. The greens are high in Vitamin A, Vitamin K, B1, B2, B6, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E!

  4. Swill chard Root -This delicious root roasts beautifully. See the recipe above!

  5. Celeriac root- a versatile, flavorful ingredient for soups, mashes, side dishes, and salads. It is a plentiful source of vitamins C and K, which can help support heart and bone health!

  6. Onions- Our delicious onion varieties add flavor and texture to soups, salsas, curries, and sauces. They can also act as toppers for entrees like chili and burgers.

  7. Leeks- Grab one of our giant leeks! These add sweet, oniony flavor to soups, stews, pastas, and more!

  8. Beets- You can use cooked beets in salads, to make hummus or to blend into smoothies. They can be diced for slaw, quartered for a grain bowl or mashed to make a dip or spread.

  9. Darkibor Kale- The triple curled, rich green leaves of this top-quality variety are mild, juicy-sweet and tender: a perfect choice for vitamin-rich, garden fresh kale salads, kale “chips”.

  10. Fennel- Fennel has long been used as a flavoring agent, a scent, and an insect repellent, as well as an herbal remedy for poisoning and stomach conditions. It has also been used as a stimulant to promote milk flow in breast-feeding mothers. The leaves can be chopped and used to flavor salads, dressings, marinades and sauces. They tend to have a slightly more citrusy flavor than the base.

  11. Radishes- Radishes are most often served raw, halved and sprinkled with salt, shaved into salads, layered over butter-smeared baguettes, or shredded into slaws. They also can be marinated with olive oil and lemon and mint for a refreshing salad, and they can be pickled with a classic vinegar-sugar-salt mix.

  12. Swiss Chard- Chard is high in many antioxidants and can be steamed or sauteed, and it's great in soups, stews, casseroles, frittatas and quiches. Young leaves can be eaten raw in salads. Chard always has green leaves, but the stalks can be a variety of colors.

  13. Chives- Since chives have a milder flavor, they're perfect to add to soups, dips, mashed or baked potatoes, fish, seafood dishes and omelets. Heat destroys their delicate flavor, so add chives to dishes at the last minute. To maximize their taste, thinly slice, chop or snip with kitchen shears before using.

  14. Scallions- Top off soup, bake them into quick biscuits, tuck them into sandwiches, bake them into loaves of bread, etc. The possibilities are endless!

  15. Turnips & Beautiful Turnip Greens - the turnips were a little small this week, but that just means that they are sweeter! But the greens...those greens are so beautiful and so tasty! Buttery and LOADED with nutrition, we love to sauté these amazing greens and eat them alone with some garlic and onion or add them to eggs or a stew. The flavor isn't just amazing, the calcium bioavailability is beyond any other food on earth😲!

  16. Carrots- The best carrots around! You will be amazed by how much flavor our carrots pack. Many of our members have commented that they cannot go back to store-bought after tasting our pure, beyond organic carrots!

  17. Barley Wheat Grass - Many of our members absolutely love our barley grass and use it religiously. We hope you take the time to learn and enjoy this most amazingly nutritious green! More nutritious than wheat grass and less bitter, barley grass is used mostly for juicing. However, I, Yosef (and many of our team members) love to use it as an energy and nutrition

  18. Dried Herbs - Basil, dill, mint and fennel (our herb room smells like heaven!😇).

  19. Radish Microgreens - Next to the barley grass and the sunshoots, radish microgreens are some of the most nutritiously-dense items we grow on the farm and not only that, but during our annual survey last year, they ranked as the #1 most requested and love item we grow! They have a fantastic bite to them, last considerably long in the refrigerator and are beautiful in appearance.

  20. Pea Shoots - One of the most desired and sought after items we provide are these pea shoots! Quite literally the best you added to any dish or salad. Our favorite way is to add them to stews and soups. A perfect topper too! Here are four fun ways to use Pea Shoots: http://blog.bostonorganics.com/4-fun-ways-to-use-pea-shoots

  21. Broccoli Microgreens - Last week we told you that Radish Microgreens were the #1 most loved item we grow, well, these microgreens weren't on the list then! I have a sneaking suspicion that these microgreens are the real winners!

  22. Sunshoots - Our sunshoots are certainly some of the nicest, most high-quality sunshoots you will ever find (that actually goes for all our microgreens). They are one of the most beloved items we grow as well and a regular staple to our CSA. Here are some ideas to use your sunnies this week: https://www.martinsgardenacf.com/sunflower-shoots-recipes

  23. Living Herbs - We have an abundance of beautiful living herbs for you. Choose from cilantro, oregano, parsley and more. Each plant counts as one serving.
